San Francisco Anthropologie

Of course we had to stop by Anthropologie. I don't always need to buy something when i visit Anthro- I just like to visit. When I go by myself or when I go with Philip, the routine is always the same. We slowly circle the store, taking in all of the design, admiring all of the details, and writing down all of our ideas that come to mind for new house projects (like we need new ones). This trip sparked many ideas that we can't wait to start.

San Francisco Adventures [part 1]

Our trip to San Francisco was so much fun! We've both been there before so we didn't go to all of the typical sight seeing spots. We enjoyed sleeping in, having cable for a few days, getting coffee, eating too much, pubs in the afternoon, public transportation (yep, enjoyed it), and taking tons of pictures. Basically, lots of adventuring.

For Diane.

My friend, Diane, loves puppies and kittens. Who doesn't, right? Well, she ONLY likes them when they're little. She looses interest in them when they get bigger. I'm finally learning to understand and accept this about her. She didn't grow up with animals in her house, so I guess it's forgivable. ;)

Diane is currently living in Santa Barbra which is a pretty long drive from San Diego. She hasn't seen Patrick in a while. When I told her that he's is getting bigger this was her response : "NOOOOOOOOO! I'm missing the best years of his life!"

HAHA! She's funny like that. These pictures are so that she can see how cute he still is (and Francine too).

Johnny Miller.

I saw these lovely photos by Johnny Miller over at Oh My Deer Handmades. Aren't they beautiful?! I was instantly drawn to them because, for a while, Philip and I had been collecting colored glass bottles to display in a window sill. We had quite the collection going. We never displayed them like we originally intended- they're scattered on shelves all over the house. I think it's time for a little redecorating...again.

A Morning Walk

We're back from San Francisco and getting back into work life. Bleh.

Our little vacation was so much fun. I'm so grateful that Philip planned this trip. I really enjoyed my birthday and time away with him. I'm still sorting through pictures to share.

These pictures are from one of our Sunday morning walks. We live in the city so we really enjoy the trails around Balboa Park. This is where we usually go with Patrick.

Today's lunch redeemed our over-priced dinner we got suckered into last night in every way possible: lighting, the taste of our food, the amount of food, the price we paid, the friendly man who served us, sitting at the window down by the wharf, and even how spaced out our table was from other customers. We both cringe every time one of us brings up how much money we paid for four scallops last night. It was ridiculous! So ridiculous that we had to share (that's 2 scallops each)... Live and learn.

Today was the first cold and rainy day since we got here. Luckily we were dressed for it and obtained an umbrella quickly. We had lots of hot coffee, great food, walked around a lot, took pictures, saw a movie, and played cards. Now we're in our warm hotel room watching House and eating dinner in bed. I love vacations :)

We're in San Francisco and having so much fun! We explored and shopped a lot today and are excited to shop some more tomorrow. Hope you're enjoying your Valentine's Day weekend. :)

My Birthday Surprise

My birthday is this next weekend. Philip planned WAY ahead (like bought tickets in October) for us to fly to San Francisco for the weekend! I'm soooooo excited for a mini vacation! He even got the days off of work for me. He's sneaky like that :)

We're leaving this Friday and coming back on Tuesday. I can't wait and am already looking into shops and restaurants I want to visit. I grew up in California, so I've been to San Francisco quite a bit, but never longer than 2 days. Those visits have always been a little rushed for my liking, so this 5 day business is going to be fun!

Here are some places that we may or may not visit...

Miette looks delicious! We may have to stop there for a chocolate break.

Comstock Saloon looks like a place that Philip might enjoy visiting.

Bar Agricole. The interior of this place got me.

Krista recommended going to the Farmer's Market for picnic supplies. That sounds like the best idea!

Bistro 69 is one of those places that we always visit. Their patio is outside on a little walking street- so cute.

Those are just a few eating ideas. Then there's the shopping! I'll be spending a lot of birthday money at second hand stores..
