under construction.

Please excuse any random links that don't work or things that may go missing in the next few days. My blog is getting a little makeover, and it's going to be a not-so-quick process. I'm doing it all myself (let's remember that I have absolutely no background in graphic design, coding, etc.) This is a learn as I go sort of experience mixed with the fact that I am a perfectionist and want it exactly how it is in my head.

This picture is my inspiration for the design concept. Look familiar? That's because you've seen it before in this post.

graphics added by yours truly.

You may have noticed the new banner and navigation bar at the top. What do you think so far? I'm happy with how it's turning out, but want to know your thoughts.

finally

You may have noticed that things look a little different around here (neater, I hope). I have been wanting to give the blog a little face lift for a while. My html and photoshop skills are very very new and I'm still getting the hang of it all. I haven't taken any classes or anything. Basically, I call my husband at work anytime I don't know how to do something. I'm learning different hot keys and photoshop tricks over the phone on a daily basis. Therefor, my learning process has been slow, but one that I am eager to conquer.

I used different elements from three different sites for the design. Everything I used was free and came with multiple options (colors, patterns, textures, etc). Pugly Pixel has a lot of freebies on her site! That's where I found Fuzzimo and Mellow Mint as well. (Check out the links at the bottom of this post to get the same design elements)

I have been practicing with our camera too. I definitely have no desire to be a photographer (editing photos is one of my least favorite things to do) but I enjoy taking somewhat quality photos at family gatherings. These pictures are from Mother's Day weekend. There were so many to choose from, but here's just a few.

These two seem to be getting cuter and cuter every time I see them. Kaleigh and Mary Jane are leaving this next Wednesday for Germany. I can't believe it! We're all trying to see each other as much as we can before that happens. A long with that, I'm throwing a baby shower this Saturday. This is why it's been a little quiet around here lately. I'll share pictures of the shower once it's done. I'm making lots of little decorations that I'm' excited to share.

On a random note: I'm having a much needed girls night tonight. We got tickets to Eisley tonight! I can't wait! Hope you are enjoying your day. Tomorrow's Friday :)

Fun Reads

Everyday, I spend way too much time at my computer. Can you really blame me? There are so many things to do on it- twitter, facebook, etsy shop, e-mail, PINTEREST, bloglovin', shopping.... Do I really need to go on?
Here are some NEW blogs that I've been enjoying lately(well, new to me). I thought I'd share them with you.

With Lavender and Lace is so much fun! Kelsie takes great photos and is in a band that I'm loving so much! Its called Happiest Lion. It's so happy sounding! Listen Listen Listen!!

Fashiontoast. This girl is just too cute. It pays to be a model- she always gets the cutest clothes to take home to her closet!

Fancy Tree House. Often times, when I see pictures of a blogger in pretty outfits, I think, "I wish I had that dress". If that's you, follow this one! Coury posts most of the outfits that she models in her store. How great is that?!

Karla's Closet. She's my current fashion icon. LOVE her style [and her cute pixie cut]. She's been my girls only Sartorialist the past few weeks. [After browsing The Sartorialist, I am always inspired to be more daring with my wardrobe choices].

Visuals.

Most of my favorite blogs are visually stimulating. If they post a lot of pretty, inspiring, or intriguing pictures, I'll keep visiting. Here's a few that always seem to get me:

Things Organized Neatly posts pictures of collections or like objects. When I was younger, I used to collect all of my green belongings (my favorite color back then, so there was a lot), arrange them ever so neatly, and snap away.

What Katie Ate will make you drool. She posts the most beautiful photos of her recipes. I'm always very impressed. Everything looks absolutely delicious!

Amy Borrell is a designer + illustrator who posts All The Mountains. You can always find someone/ something new here.

Blue Eyed Yonder

I think you should scoot on over Blue Eyed Yonder. It's a lovely blog written by a family member of mine. Krista and I are cousins-ish. Well, our mom's are cousins. I think that makes us twice removed or something. I really don't know for sure ;)
What I do know is that she has WONDERFUL taste! Her blog is full of oh-so-tasty-looking desserts and inspiring craft projects. She just threw a graduation party for her cousin, Savannah Jane [who i've heard is also amazing in the kitchen] and the pictures were gorgeous!

I'm hoping that one day we'll get to craft together. That would be such a lovely day.

Notice her gorgeous necklace and hairpiece! Yes, she made them!! Such a beautiful bride! Their wedding pictures were so much fun to see. There were so many wonderful details and personal touches. Everything looked amazing!

Go check it out!
