pinterest picks: ombre + dip-dyed

I'm really loving the ombre and dip-dyed style that I'm seeing in so many things from hair styles to interior design. It's so pretty.
We went to Albuquerque, NM this weekend with Philip's family for his grandpa's 90th birthday celebration. It was great to meet him and some other family that I had never met before. [Of course we took lots of pictures, but we're still without that CF card reader so I have no way of sharing them yet.] I was really glad to go visit a new place, but honestly, I have a hard time appreciating the dessert. I think I've learned to look at it and see how neat some of it is, but I need to see green! My surroundings take a strong toll on my mood. I get really depressed when all I can see is brown for miles and miles. It was good to visit a new place, but I was so happy when we were flying into San Diego. Being at sea level (no more bloody noses), feeling the ocean breeze, and seeing trees make me happy :)

summer hair.
I'm probably the last person that should be sharing hair advice. However, that's what might make these styles even better. If I can do these, you can do it too.
Joanna Goddard posts great hair tutorials that anyone can do. I thought that these are great ideas for spring and summer. They would work great for a day at the beach, a sunny bike ride, or just lounging around in a cute dress.

When I was working at Starbucks, I had to wear my hair out of my face. When I woke up early enough to do my hair and makeup, I usually rocked this pony tail. It's very easy to do and I always got lots of compliments.
I love a messy bun. This style is perfect for when you're running out the door and need to do something quick and cute.

Maiden braids are really fun and they keep your hair out of your face. My experience is that when you braid your hair, pull apart the braid a little, making it slightly loose. If you have thick hair, you probably don't have to worry about that.

Accessory tip: Try braiding a pretty strip of fabric or piece of yarn with your hair to add a little extra something.
