the shop's open
I've re-opened my shop! It's going to be a very long and slow process of restocking as I create new pieces. A lot of people have asked about my shop and why I had it closed. Well, I needed a break from making wedding pieces for a while. I wasn't very happy with the style that my shop had taken on. Therefor, it was becoming more of a burden than something I was enjoying. When we moved, I couldn't even look at all of my supplies (I have a lot of them) without feeling anxious or overwhelmed.
Recently, I made a hairpiece with a birdcage veil for a friend that's getting married later this month. I loved how it turend out and it inspired me to start sketching out new ideas for the shop. Today I made this flower girl headband and decided to re-open the shop. I'm going to start with just headbands and hairpieces at first. I still don't have a lot of free time to dedicate to my Etsy shop. I am in a wedding this summer, I'm helping design and create all the decor for another wedding, and I'm trying to keep busy with Typewriter Boneyard.
In other news, I started watching Downton Abbey today. OH. MY. I am SO addicted! I honestly thought I wouldn't like it, but I'm all in. Sheesh! Because that's what I need- another tv show to be obsessed with.

shop update
There are two new items in the shop this morning: Twiggy Dessert Picks and Lynette's Paper Feather Hair Comb.

This hair piece is very delicate. The paper feathers are made from the page cutouts for Philip's lamps. Dried baby's breath lays across the feathers with two small flowers on one end. There are small pearl beads inside each flower.
All of my paper pieces in the shop are now coated in a matte protective finish so that they are durable against any kind of moisture or liquid. Because if you're as clumsy as I am, you'd rather be safe than sorry.

shop update.
Kristen's Bridal Hairpiece + Broach. I made this custom hairpiece for a bride and loved how it turned out. It's listed as a made to order piece, so you could request color or material changes if you so desire. Like many of the others, this one can be worn as a hair accessory or a broach.
(From left to right) Sampson's Boutonniere + Riley's Boutonniere. I've been loving peach and mint colors together lately. Each one could be made into a set, or mixed and matched to create a set together.

styled.

The Ellie Paper Flower Broach is one of my favorite pieces in my shop. The paper flower was handmade by me. I used the cutout scraps from vintage books that soon became lamps. This pieces has an aligator clip secured to it as well as a pinback, so it can be worn 3 different ways. 1. Clip it in your hair with any up-do 2. Pin it on your belt or use as a broach 3. Wear it with your favorite headband.
Any evening plans? I was supposed to sing with my brother tonight at one of our local farmer's markets but my throat does not want to get better. I'm bummed I had to back out, but still excited to see him perform.
PS. Check back later tonight for the giveaway!

pretty easy hair tutorial
I had someone ask me how I styled my hair in yesterday's post. I was really excited to share it because it's so easy! I'm not that great at styling my hair. It's either down, or in my pony tail (but it's a pretty pony tail. I'll share that tutorial later) When I found this, I couldn't wait to try it.
You just section your hair into three parts, twist them each into buns, and pin! Easy right?
I modified it a little bit. I'm all about making my hair look fuller and my hairstyle a little messy. I teased each section at the top of my head (something I usually do because my hair is so flat). Also, I teased each piece a little before twisting it, so that each bun looked fuller. Warning: taking this out and brushing it out at the end of the day (if you decide to tease) is a nightmare.
This tutorial is from the paper mama (found via pinterest).

Happy Monday!

Hello, friends! Happy Monday to you all. I am obsessed with braids lately, but can't seem to braid my own hair very well. I'll need some practice. I know some lovely ladies who make peoples' hair pretty for a profession. I think we should invite them here for some tutorials. :)
Let me tell you, I had a fantastic weekend: lots of great friends, a great women's conference, good eating, shopping, and lots of laughing. I will share about it later. I have to get ready for my last day at Starbucks! YAY!
Thank you everyone for all of the kind and encouraging words about my new adventure. I am more than thrilled and it's amazing to have so many people all around me to get me even more excited.
On a slightly bummer note, our downstairs closet flooded this morning. Boo. We're dealing with that, so I just wanted to stop by for a quick hello. Enjoy your Monday and I'll be back tomorrow.

Made with love.
As mentioned earlier, my nieces birthday is coming up. We were supposed to have her party today at the park. However, the rain decided to join us this morning. Therefor the princess party will be postponed until tomorrow afternoon.
Here's a few things that I made for her...

Every little girl needs bows and hair ties.

I thrifted this GORGEOUS knit sweater earlier this week at Amvets near downtown. I was just chuffed to bits when I found it! (haha! I've been wanting to use that phrase ever since I learned it this week!) I could not believe the amazing color and how cute all of the pattern was! Now, when I found it, it was just the sweater. On our way home, the sweater and I, made a stop by Yardage Town for some fabric and buttons. Now it's the PERFECT sweater for the cutest little 3 year old I know.
I'm so excited for her party tomorrow. Her mama has been working really hard putting this all together. It's going to be lots of fun! And it's so much fun watching Skyla open her presents.
After making the hair pieces and sweater, I was inspired to make a Christmas ornament. Here it is! What do you think?! I'm debating making more like it. Also, what do you think about the rosette hair pieces? I think I'm going to make a lot of them for the shop, but would like some feedback before I do.

I hope you are enjoying your Halloween weekend. We have been so busy these past few weeks that we didn't really make any plans for tomorrow night. We're kind of bummed about it, but maybe it could be a date night
♥

Are you dressing up this year?

Flowers for Casey
I had the privilege of making a couple of hair pieces for a bride. She also had me make a headband for her flower girl. I really liked how they came out and made a few more headbands which will soon be in my shop for purchase [I had some difficulties posting them from my ancient laptop].
Here's some pictures of the one's i just sent out.
