I love these bulletin boards above my desk. I spend a lot of time at our computer and they're mounted just above it. They are a great source of inspiration. I'm an avid Pinner, but need inspiration that I can touch as well. I'm really into textures. Do you use any sort of bulletin board/ mood board in your work space?

the creative process

For the past few months, I've been working on a wedding that I had the privilege of styling. Now that the planning is over and the wedding has happened, I have a lot of free time to work on other creative projects. I took the past few days off to relax, clear my mind, and get inspired. I ended up having a lot of fresh ideas for new products and am currently in the middle of developing them. I'm making sure to take the time to experiment and embrace the creative process. It's making the whole experience so much fun and rewarding. Have you given yourself time to be creative lately?

My brother-in-law is getting married to this lovely lady. We're in the wedding, so I've been thinking about pretty hairstyles that I may want to rock the day of. I seem to be drawn to any hairstyle with a pretty braid or braided crown. You can see more ideas on this pinboard.

I've been really inspired by anything two toned lately. It's bold, yet simple. Also, I have been sketching new ideas lamps, chandeliers, and pendants everyday. I can't wait to sit down with Philip and see which ones are going to work. Hopefully we can start working on all of that once we move in.

I keep telling Philip that I want some sort of deer head mounted in our next place and that I want to make paper flowers to go with it. (The thought probably came from seeing this.) Now, after seeing both of these pictures, I'm positive that it will happen.

loft inspiration // work space

Philip and I are looking at lofts for when our lease is up. We're really excited and are probably jumping the gun a little because our lease isn't up until March. That's ok, because we have fun looking.

We decided to look for a place that will really inspire us to work. That means great natural lighting, open layout, easy to clean floors (no carpet!!), bright walls, and a little brick wouldn't hurt either. (This place would be perfect, but probably won't be available in March).

We are planning on putting our full time and energy into Typewriter Boneyard starting at the beginning of next year. That means we need a proper work set up that includes a shipping area, computer desk space, and a work space that can get dirty. We've been sketching and planning all of this out and these three photos have been a big source of inspiration. Our favorite is the 1st one. We really like the idea of one huge desk that can be worked at from different sides.

What's important for you to be productive? Do you work better in pretty messes or in a neatly organized space?

My sister-in-law and I are having a house show in December. I've been looking through photos and getting myself inspired as I plan out how my table will be set up and what I'll be creating. The first images are from my Pinterest board. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that the 2nd set of pictures is the wall above my desk.

I've been so focused on helping Philip this past month that I haven't been able to create much myself. I miss it and am flooded with ideas right now. I can't wait to get working!

We had a wonderful day of much needed rest and now we're working the night away. We got to visit Tumbleweed's Odd Shop tonight for it's grand opening! It looks amazing and we're so excited for Beca, Doug, and Shawn.

Cailen is going to be my sister soon (!), so I've been having fun talking wedding ideas with her. I am especially loving all of this delicate inspiration.

I hope you are enjoying this week. I am getting sick from not stopping (or sleeping). Sadly, tonight's not going to be any different. Jake and I played at the Farmer's Market yesterday. It was definitely a learning experience. It was super super hot yesterday (and humid)! Being outside in the heat all day, singing for 4 hours straight, and standing in one spot for so long was physically exhausting. I felt like a train had ran me over by the end of the day. Also, we got pretty burnt out after having to play our set a few times. However, it was still fun. I have never felt that comfortable performing before. I wasn't nervous at all (yay!). Hopefully we will play another show soon.

Time to get back to work! Hopefully, I will be back tomorrow :)

Pinterest board

I've noticed that people are either crazy about cats or hate them. Personally, I love them. With the chance of sounding crazy, here are a few things I love about my kitty, Francine: her soft fur, her cute nose, her teeny tiny teeth, her cute little meow when she wakes up, her OCD tendencies, and I like the way she smells (yes, I know that one's really weird).

So, there, that's my secret: I'm a crazy cat lady. That's ok because I have plenty of friends who are crazy about cats too. Maybe we'll start a club.

So lately I've been seriously considering getting a tattoo. It's always been a thought, but never a serious one. I always just say, "I know I can't handle the pain." However, lately I've been thinking that I could. I just want something small so the pain wouldn't last for too long. Also, once they start, that's it, there's no turning back. I have a lot of ideas in the works for designs and their significance. We'll see if this ever becomes a reality. Here's some inspiration for it either way:

I'm not feeling so hot today. Of course it's the day when my to do list is a mile long. I did a lot already, so I'm giving myself a break. A what? That's right- a break! I rarely take them on days like this, but my body needs them. So I decided to make at least one boutonniere set to list in the shop (I've been wanting to do this for a few days now). I'm making boutonnieres, drinking coffee, had myself a very good snack, and am listening to the Wicked soundtrack (I may have just watched the Glee finale). baby shower inspiration.

I'm throwing my sister-in-law a baby shower this month. I'm really excited! In all of my spare time, I've been thinking, sketching, and planning. I wanted to share some inspiration photos with you.

The first time I saw this color scheme, I fell in love. I knew I wanted to use it at the shower. I think it will match our theme very well.

The theme of our party is vintage paper doll. I'm thinking of having paper dolls or vintage dresses for baby girl strung on a clothes line. I want to incorporate a lot of other paper decor as well. 1//2

I can't decide between these two for favor packaging. I think that the scarf wrapped packages are so fun and playful. I also like the simplicity of the brown boxes, twine, and colorful flowers.

I have a couple of menu ideas right now. Aren't these mason jars are so cute with the ribbon tied around them? They would make any drink pretty. For lunch, we'll be enjoying a platter of turkey wraps and a couple summer salads.

Wow! Sharing all of this made me realize how much I still have left to do. I usually procrastinate on things like this. I like to say that I work better under pressure, but that usually means a sleepless night before the shower. I really need to stop doing that.

I'm in desperate need of inspiration today. I love these pictures and they're helping, but sometimes I need to see things in person. I like to feel textures and different materials. (I hate museums and galleries because you're not allowed to touch anything). I'm going to Anthropologie and Restoration Hardware for some pretty pick-me-ups.
