wedding hair

My brother-in-law is getting married to this lovely lady. We're in the wedding, so I've been thinking about pretty hairstyles that I may want to rock the day of. I seem to be drawn to any hairstyle with a pretty braid or braided crown. You can see more ideas on this pinboard.

pinterest picks // pretty closet inspiration

One of the things on our house project list is a more organized and pretty closet. As of now, it is crammed with too many clothes (there are more Goodwill trips in our future). We don't have enough space for a decent sized laundry hamper, shoes, or purses. Also, our poorly designed closet doesn't open all the way, so there's a middle section where dresses and coats get forgotten (so sad, I know). I've rounded up a few ideas for an organized closet (all from this pinboard):

Our first plan is to build a garment rack for my dresses and coats. They take up lots of space in our little closet and I would definitely wear them more if I saw them. Also, who doesn't like seeing their dresses all displayed together?

If you are using an exposed rack of sorts as a closet, sometimes it can look a little bare or random on a big wall or in a big room. You can always hang clippings, framed pictures, numbers or words around or above it to section it off as it's own space.

Huge mirrors propped against the wall: they always look awesome, right? The mirror makes your space feel larger (never bad for a closet) and (duh) you need a mirror when you're trying on clothes.

A fun way to store your shoes is by not storing them (wha?). Shoes are pretty and make us feel pretty (well, mine do). It's for that reason that they should be displayed. Shelves, ladders, mounted crates, neatly on the floor, or on fancy armoires- get creative.

All from my Pinterest board

Cailen is going to be my sister soon (!), so I've been having fun talking wedding ideas with her. I am especially loving all of this delicate inspiration.

I hope you are enjoying this week. I am getting sick from not stopping (or sleeping). Sadly, tonight's not going to be any different. Jake and I played at the Farmer's Market yesterday. It was definitely a learning experience. It was super super hot yesterday (and humid)! Being outside in the heat all day, singing for 4 hours straight, and standing in one spot for so long was physically exhausting. I felt like a train had ran me over by the end of the day. Also, we got pretty burnt out after having to play our set a few times. However, it was still fun. I have never felt that comfortable performing before. I wasn't nervous at all (yay!). Hopefully we will play another show soon.

Time to get back to work! Hopefully, I will be back tomorrow :)

gorgeous.

I absolutely love this peach and mustard combo, not to mention the gorgeous silhouette. I've been noticing my love for long and flowy maxi skirts and dresses. Something about them seems so elegant to me. What trends are you loving lately?

pinterest picks: ombre + dip-dyed

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8 // 9

I'm really loving the ombre and dip-dyed style that I'm seeing in so many things from hair styles to interior design. It's so pretty.

We went to Albuquerque, NM this weekend with Philip's family for his grandpa's 90th birthday celebration. It was great to meet him and some other family that I had never met before. [Of course we took lots of pictures, but we're still without that CF card reader so I have no way of sharing them yet.] I was really glad to go visit a new place, but honestly, I have a hard time appreciating the dessert. I think I've learned to look at it and see how neat some of it is, but I need to see green! My surroundings take a strong toll on my mood. I get really depressed when all I can see is brown for miles and miles. It was good to visit a new place, but I was so happy when we were flying into San Diego. Being at sea level (no more bloody noses), feeling the ocean breeze, and seeing trees make me happy :)

pinterest picks meets colors inspired

I'm not feeling so hot today. Of course it's the day when my to do list is a mile long. I did a lot already, so I'm giving myself a break. A what? That's right- a break! I rarely take them on days like this, but my body needs them. So I decided to make at least one boutonniere set to list in the shop (I've been wanting to do this for a few days now). I'm making boutonnieres, drinking coffee, had myself a very good snack, and am listening to the Wicked soundtrack (I may have just watched the Glee finale). Here's a little color inspiration for my project:

These colors have been dancing around in my head for a few weeks now. What colors are inspiring you lately?

diy braided hex nut bracelet

[idea and pic from Honestly, WTF.]
Cailen and I are addicted to Pinterest [It's ok, I' not ashamed of it]. A few weekends ago, we were hanging out and decided to try this DIY that we found on Pinterest. We followed the tutorial on Honestly, WTF and this is how it went...
The store we went to didn't have the gold hex nuts in large quantities so we decided to spray paint ours.
Next time, we'll wear gloves.
We were braiding for a while and found it easier when one end was secured to something.
They turned out pretty!
Yay! Project complete :)

Cailen and I have many projects that we want to give a try. I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to these ideas. Aye..it's endless.

I wanted to say a BIG thank you for all of the amazing compliments that we received yesterday about our songs. I was excited to share the song that I helped write [I hope to do more writing this year]. Jake is an amazing song writer. His lyrics always blow me away and I'm glad that we can share them with people.
Yesterday was so much fun. We hung out in my living room and just recorded from garage band. One live recording for our vocals and his guitar. The less takes, the better. We both hate the recording process [but what we did doesn't compare what other musicians have to do!] However, the kind feedback we got here, on facebook, and twitter was encouraging to record more. Sadly we had to cut our session short today because my voice hasn't fully recovered from being sick [almost a whole month with no voice].
Just wanted to say thanks for listening ♥

garden roundup.

I love plants, but we don't have much room in our yard for a garden. Room isn't the only problem. Two rowdy dogs run back and fourth through our tiny yard most days and don't have the courtesy to run around the plants. Most of our plants are potted and away from the dogs.
Also, it seems like the closer you get to the city, the smaller or less frequent yards become. Here are some creative ideas for having a garden when you don't exactly have the space for one.

[You can find these pictures, their sources, and more gardening ideas on this Pinterest board.]

Pinterest Picks: Floors

We don't own our house and there's only so much you can do in a rental. One of the things I can't wait to do one day is have pretty floors!

Current Crush: Pretty Outdoor Parties

Since it's so warm recently (it feels like summer here), I can't stop thinking about being outside. I think outdoor parties during the warm seasons is the best!

I had a really hard time finding the original source of this last picture. My trail ended at a tumblr account that isn't around anymore. You'll find all of these pictures on my Pinterest boards.

say no to naked walls.

All from my boards on Pinterest.
Original sources: clockwise from top left:

As we continually decorate our house, I'm always thinking of ways to fill empty walls. The task is almost done, except for two walls in our bedroom. To me, they're just screaming for some love. I have a few ideas, but nothings for sure yet. We'll see how they turn out.

I only slept for about three hours last night and feel like death right now. I'm going to try and take pictures of new hairpieces and garters that are going into the shop. No promises though- I might not wake up until tomorrow. [To all of my friends with babies: how do you live on no sleep?! I couldn't imagine taking care of a crying baby right now. You are all super heros.]

Goodnight.

sunscreen and mimosas.

It's absolutely gorgeous in San Diego lately. I'm hoping that it will stay like this.....forever. I love the sunshine. Lately, I've been wanting to live at the beach in my bikini. Our beautiful weather has inspired my "sunscreen and mimosas" board on Pinterest.

PS- There's a couple of new items in the shop. Also, don't forget to enter the giveaway for the woodland chalkboard. Enjoy your Friday! :)

Winter Colours

I've decided to participate in Poppytalk's Winter Colours Week for the rest of the week...[maybe I'll play catch up from yesterday and today too]. I'll post those photos tomorrow for you.

I had a crazy long day of non-stop cleaning at work today. I'm exhausted and ready for some relaxing. Also, we had more amazing weather today. It's making me so excited for summertime. I am so grateful for our wonderful weather we're spoiled with in San Diego. We couldn't ask for anything better.

I am absolutely loving the feel of these pictures! Found via pinterest [Pinned to my 'Happy I am' board]. Here's the original source.

Our Bedroom Inspiration.

We have been in our home since this last March. That's almost a year. It's still not all put together like we want. The past couple of weeks, we have been giving much needed attention to our bedroom. Here are some pictures to inspire my unfinished project:

The wall above our bed is this same color. I had a similar color scheme already picked out since we moved in. It was nice to find this inspiring picture of a finished room with the same colors.

We decided that the answer to our lack of closet space was a garment rack. My dresses are too long for our closet and so are some of my coats. Also, what girl doesn't want all of her dresses displayed in such a pretty way? [I have a lot and this will free up tons of closet space]♥
I may have posted this picture before. I think that wooden crates are such a great way to make shelves! We mounted one next to my desk the other day and it makes me so happy.

Our bedroom is very big. It's practically the whole 2nd floor of our house. It's a lot bigger than our living room and non existant dining room. There are huge windows with tons of light and lots of wall space. Because of all of this, my desk area is being set up in our bedroom. That's been my favorite and most motivating part of finishing this project. I get to set up my work space :)

My side of the bed doesn't have space for a bedside table. That means no lamp. We mounted one of Philip's book stack lamps on the wall so I could have light. book lamp=happiness.

This picture. Oh, this picture. It makes me heart so happy when I look at it! I absolutely LOVE that headboard!!!! I think this is the most beautiful bed I've ever seen! That yellow and white would look so great in our room. I wish it were mine.
