I haven't really had much time to decorate. Also, nothing is finished, so it would seem backwards to decorate now. It's like the finishing touches (and a reward for me). In the meantime, I do spend a lot of time at my desk, so I made sure that I have a few things to enjoy looking at.

inspired.
I keep telling Philip that I want some sort of deer head mounted in our next place and that I want to make paper flowers to go with it. (The thought probably came from seeing this.) Now, after seeing both of these pictures, I'm positive that it will happen.

all in the details // christmas (part 1)

Here's our entryway as of last night. It was the final touches on our Christmas decor. I will share the rest of the house as soon as I get a moment to take decent pictures.

Francine practically lives in this window. She loves that white blanket and being up high, away from Patrick. Also, when I pick up the blankt to de-fur it, she follows me until I put it back. She's obsessed.

Alice in Wonderland
My sister's baby showers were lots of work, but so much fun! It was fun making it all come together. My sister looked beautiful and got so many wonderful gifts! We had way too many sweets, lots of Alice in Wonderland decorations, yummy food, great family and friends who shared that weekend with us. Just wanted to share some pictures with you.

These cute and DELICIOUS macaroons were a suggestion from Georgia. She had them made for a baby shower that she threw for a friend. She was right about how great they were! I ordered chocolate with salted caramel filling, rose with buttercream filling, and red velvet with cream cheese filling. Drooling yet? If you are a San Diego local and want to order some, let me know. I'll get you in contact with the lovely gal who makes them.

Isn't she just the cutest little preggo mama? She got so many cute gifts!

These were the pooped attendees/ helpers. Notice the new parents taking their opportunity to nap while someone else has their little guy;)

My best friend traveled by herself all the way from Santa Barbra to be there! She's awesome :)
Little Mary Jane is going to be here soon and so is her daddy! (He's overseas right now) I'm so excited for Christmas so that we can all see him, meet Mary Jane and take cute pictures of my niece and nephew together! It's going to be a fun holiday season for us this year!!! :)

New Wreaths.
That sneak peek earlier this week was of these two wreaths I made. Like my other wreaths, they are made of yarn and have both moss and ribbon on them. I wanted to make another wreath with deer on it like the one I used in the giveaway on Freckled Nest. Something new that I did was add these paper flowers. Philip has a TON of scraps from hollowing out the vintage books for his lamps. I always feel so horrible throwing them away so I took a few and started just playing with them. Eventually, I made these flowers and loved them!

I think the light colors of the moss, bark, paper flowers with the branches are perfect for winter and fall. I like making things that don't fall into traditional color schemes that holidays tend to have (Halloween: orange, black, purple. Christmas: red, green, white. etc) I would definitely display these with our Christmas decor.

A new little something.
The past two nights, before bed, I've been working on some more pieces for the shop. They're done, but they're pictures are not. Until then, here' s a sneak peek :)

Also, we are still waiting for a free night to carve our pumpkins. I'll post the pictures as soon as we do. ..I think the busy-ness of the holiday season has started a little early for us this year. We have a lot of birthdays and celebrations that are going on these last few months of 2010. They're all great and I'm excited, but it's already going by too fast! For example, my sister's double baby shower is this weekend. Yep- one on Saturday, one on Sunday. I'm so excited to celebrate her little one coming into the world, but it's so hard for me to finish projects after my shifts at Starbucks. Tomorrow is my only day off before the showers so I better make the most of it and be super productive!!
Enjoy the rest of your day. I hope it's a cozy one.

I was catching up on my blogs and websites this morning and wandered around design*sponge for a while. I haven't been online much this past weekend so I had a lot to catch up on.
First, I noticed that they were taking a poll for their book tour. Where do you want them to go and what do you want to happen once they get there? San Diego wasn't on their list! I was sad. La and San Fran were, so I voted for them and Seattle. That would be a great excuse to finally see Seattle :) You should vote on that one.
Next I saw this amazing sneak peak! Lauren Bradshaw [who makes cute little bird cake toppers] was sharing her house. It was so amazing that I had to share it here
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS LIVING ROOM!!!!

If I had to chose an exact replica for a room in our house I would definitely go with this living room! There's usually something I would want to change when I look at pics from someone else's house and imagine it in my own. Not this one. I LOVE the floors, rug, brick fireplace with the mirror and globe, the couches, coffee table, the colors. Love it all!

I like the brick in this bathroom for sure

Bright kitchens make me happy

Oh, this dining room- the chairs, table, the rug..Have I over used the word 'love' yet?

I really like the details of her nursery, the little decorations, etc. However, I'm not a huge fan of how dark the walls are. Especially for a nursery. Other than that, don't you think it's adorable?

No Nursery For Me
My mom is going to be a grandma soon. Twice. My sister-in-law is due in September. My sister is due in December. Right now, my mom is overly excited with decorating a nursery. I have to say that I'm a bit jealous about this. I LOVE decorating [I get that from her]. And what's more fun than decorating a kid's room?! This is something I will not be able to do for a long time because we are not having kids any time soon. I don't see why an auntie shouldn't be able to have a nursery, the same as a grandma. Even if we had a second bedroom, I doubt Philip would want to use it as a nursery for someone else's kids.
If I did have that room to decorate, I would want it to look something like this:

cute pillow and magical mobile. both found here.

I LOVE the floors and all the fun vintage things in this room.

Yellow metal crib. Yes, please. And no, i wouldn't mind our bed frame looking like this.

Organized shelves. So pretty and so practical.

I LOVE the color scheme and fun things that Rachel used in her sons room.

I'm a sucker for owls and any other woodland creature. That' why I love the alphabet print below :)

Hi, you're parents are rich and built you a tree house. No big deal.

Aren't these chairs cute? Little chairs for little people.
unless noted, all images from weheartit or ohdeedoh
